Grad students needed to participate in focus group

URGENT… PLEASE HELP

The Graduate School, and Wright State, has been selected to participate in a first-of-its-kind study which will focus on completion and retention rates of master’s students in STEM disciplines and GSA is asking for your help.

We were contacted by the Graduate School and asked to help spread the word about this study and also help find new graduate students (as well as grad students who plan to graduate in the next few quarters) to participate in the study.

If you would be interested in being a part of the study during either one of the session times listed below, please respond to Jason Champagne (jason.champagne@wright.edu) with your name, campus e-mail address, and session preference.  Students selected to participate in a focus group will be contacted by the Graduate School and will receive a $10 gift card to the Wright State bookstore.

Thanks in advance…please spread the word!

Dean of Graduate School doing great things for WSU

Dr. Andrew Hsu

Just a quick post to give props to the Dean of our Graduate School, Dr. Andrew Hsu. Today I received an email from the president of Wright State. Okay, not me personally…but the content is worth sharing. And I quote:

“Wright State joined representatives from Mound Laser & Photonics Center, Inc., and our new Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents, Jim Petro, to announce that our two organizations will embed a faculty member within Mound Laser. We will be providing research expertise, and Mound Laser will provide the forum through which we get additional insights into the needs and challenges of business. This unique relationship was the brainchild of our associate vice president for research and dean of the Wright State Graduate School Andrew Hsu, who worked very closely with the team from Mound Laser led by Larry Dosser. This is a big step for local business and for higher education. I want to thank Dr. Hsu; Jack Bantle, our vice president for research; George Huang, chair of the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering; and S. Narayanan, dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, for their leadership.”

Along with our org advisor Dr. Ayres, Dr. Hsu has been extremely supportive of the efforts of GSA to elevate the graduate experience at Wright State. While we as students may not always knows exactly how administration influences our education, Dr. Hsu is making a big difference for all the graduate students and I’m happy share his good news.

Yours truly,

Lisa J. Douglas, VP
